Coke & Asparagus for Kidney Stone Removal..

Properties of Asparagus

  • Asparagus has been touted as a kidney remedy for thousands of years. Asparagus is a natural diuretic thought to clean and restore the kidneys. It’s known to help reduce inflammation and it is definitely a preventive for kidney infections, if not an aid in ridding a kidney stone.

Properties of Coke

  • Coke is thought to have corrosive properties. Anyone who has done the experiment of placing a dirty coin in a glass of Coke and seen the Coke eat away at the grime is at least visually convinced. And, yes, that is the idea, the corrosive qualities of Coke can grind the kidney stone to sand, making it passable.

The Procedure

  • It’s one thing to know why Coke and asparagus can aid in removing kidney stones, but the next step is in how to take them. The only substantial evidence on this method are the testimonials from people who say this is what worked for them. This method is not endorsed by doctor’s and really should be done at your own risk.

The general consensus is that it is best to start mid-morning and on an empty stomach. You will need about two pounds of asparagus and a 12-pack of Coke. Diet Coke works just as well (although some say only the Classic Coke worked for them), so go with your preference. Every 20 minutes, consume one can of soda. At the end of two hours, you should have consumed a six-pack. At this point eat 6 to 8 oz, or about a cup, of pureed asparagus. Some people repeat a half-hour later with drinking Cokes again every 20 minutes and ending with the asparagus. Others wait 24 hours. All recommend drinking lots of distilled water after ingesting the Coke and asparagus and warn of possible stomach upset from drinking so many carbonated beverages.

Bear in mind, this is a home remedy and you can only take other people’s word for its effectiveness. Although asparagus is known to have some medicinal value, transferring the concept of Coke’s acidic properties form coins to your stone may be a leap. When you are in pain, however, a leap of faith may be just the cure, and there are many who have taken that leap and swear it was just the thing.
